Community Meeting Slated for Historic Hill Roadway Improvements

Community Information Meeting set for Thursday, Sept. 19th
NEWPORT, R.I. (Sept. 13, 2019)

Work to reconstruct three streets in the City’s Historic Hill neighborhood is expected to get underway later this month.
Residents of
High Street, School Street and Division Street
are asked to take note that all three roads are slated for reconstruction as part of the City’s ongoing roadway improvement program and while access to properties will be maintained, we do anticipate some inconveniences as driveways are replaced, sidewalks are restored, and the road surface is repaved. Parking may also be restricted at times during the workweek from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Work is anticipated to begin as soon as possible and should be complete as weather allows in the Spring.
City staff will be canvassing the neighborhood to notify residents of the upcoming work, and a community informational meeting is scheduled for
Thursday, Sept. 19

at 6 p.m. in the Second Floor Council Chambers at City Hall
for all those interested in learning more about the project and its expected impact.
Funding for the project was secured in part through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program.
