On-Street Parking Meters

Pay by plate parking is in effect from 9AM to 12AM in the downtown area, 9AM to 9PM in other metered areas (check signage) May 1st through October 31st.  PLEASE NOTE –  November 1^st through April 30^th No fee for parking at meters but TIME LIMITS REMAIN IN EFFECT.

On-street multi-space parking meters are located on specific streets throughout downtown Newport and along Memorial Blvd. at Easton’s Beach.  Parking at an on-street metered space is limited to a maximum of three hours and the rate is $2 per hour, except along Washington Street, which costs $1.50 per hour.  No need to place receipt on the dashboard. Payment can also be made with the Passport Mobile App. Look for the Zone number on nearby signs or decals.

Newport residents with a valid Resident Parking Permit are qualified for three (3) hours of free parking at on-street metered spaces. (NOTE: RESIDENTS MUST ENTER THEIR PLATE NUMBER IN THE PAY STATION OR WITH THE PASSPORT MOBILE APP.)

Metered Parking at Cliff Walk and Forty Steps

A Pay-by-Plate multi-space parking meter is located Narragansett Ave near the Forty Steps Restroom.  Choose the number of hours you wish to park (up to four (4) hours), enter your license plate number and deposit your payment (credit card, coins or dollars, $2 per hour).  There is no need to return to your vehicle to put a receipt on the dashboard.  Payment can also be made using the Passport Mobile App. (Zone 40105)
