A Comprehensive Plan is a document that sets out the City’s future vision and priorities, guiding growth, development, and preservation for decades. The plan includes decisions on land use, policy changes, and spending priorities for public projects, and we want your help!

How You Can Get Involved

If you want to learn more about the Newport 2037, and how you can get more involved, please contact the Planning Department today!

During the 18-month planning process, we’ll be working to align and coordinate Newport’s many prior plans and studies as we talk as a community about the future of:

City Services & Facilities
Climate Change & Natural Hazards
Economic Development
Housing
Historical & Cultural Resources
Land Use
Natural Resources & Energy
Outdoor Recreation & Open Space
Transportation
Water

There will be many opportunities to lend your voice and vision to help shape the Newport 2037 Comprehensive Plan. Here are some initial ways to participate:

Visit the online Collaborative Map to share your site-specific ideas and insights

Complete the online activities and take the survey from the December 2nd Comprehensive Plan Winter Workshop .

Hear an overview of the planning process and meet the consultant team hired by the City to develop the plan alongside Newport community members by watching the Oct. 6th Planning Board meeting or Oct. 8th City Council meeting
