Newport Police Department - Traffic Alerts for 10/11/25 to 10/13/25

October 11, 2025 Broadway Street Fair:
Beginning at 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m., there will be no parking on the following streets:

Broadway from Gould St through the bottom of Washington Square
Equality Park West through Wheatland Boulevard to Marlborough Street
Equality Park Place
Spring Street at Bull Street
Bull Street at Spring Street
Bull Street at Central Street
Bull Street at Kay Street
Kay Street at Brinley Street

Below are the road closures that will begin at 8:30 a.m. and run until 7:00 p.m.:

Broadway from Gould Street through the bottom of Washington Square
Court House Street from Touro Street through Farewell Street to Marlborough Street

Southbound Broadway traffic will be detoured onto Equality Park West and onto Wheatland Boulevard. Northbound traffic on Spring Street will be detoured onto Bull Street. Northbound traffic on Bellevue Avenue will be detoured at Touro Street to Kay Street.

Busses and large commercial vehicles are advised to use Memorial Boulevard and America’s Cup Avenue to go in and out of the city and to avoid Broadway, Bellevue Avenue and upper Spring Street.

Public parking is available at the Gateway Center, 23 America’s Cup Avenue, Mary Street parking lot and Touro Street parking lot.

October 12, 2025 Amica Marathon:
Beginning at 7:00 a.m. until about 8:00 a.m., Memorial Boulevard Eastbound will be closed from Eustis Avenue to the town line.

There will also be temporary random closures of the Westbound lane of Memorial Boulevard from Easton’s Beach to Thames Street from 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. to assist the runners crossing the street.

October 13, 2025 Columbus Day Parade: The parade will begin at 11:30 a.m.
Beginning at 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., there will be no parking on the following streets:

Equality Park Place
Memorial Boulevard between Bellevue Avenue and Freebody Street
Freebody Street to Merton Road

Beginning at 10:00 a.m. until about 1:00 p.m., the following streets will be closed:

Broadway from Equality Park through bottom of Washington Square
Memorial Boulevard Eastbound from Bellevue Avenue to Chapel Street (expected to close at 12:00 p.m. for 30 minutes).

The parade begins in front of St. Joseph’s Church 79 Broadway, travels south on Broadway through Washington Square. The parade will continue onto Thames Street to America’s Cup to Memorial Boulevard West to the Columbus Statue.
